Project Overview
"History Minted" is one of my favorite projects from my time at OU. For this project, we were tasked with creating a diversity promo using Adobe After Effects, focusing on a specific issue or individual. I chose to highlight Anna May Wong, an iconic Old Hollywood film star and the first Asian American actress to gain international acclaim. The goal was to explain her legacy and the importance of her minting and to inspire viewers to learn more about her significant contributions to film and representation.
Drawing inspiration from Vox video essays, I utilized a mixed media look and staggered animations to create a dynamic and informative promo. My design approach focused on impactful visuals that highlighted key aspects of Wong's story.
This project was a great opportunity to shed light on an influential figure in film history and to create a piece that both informs and inspires. I’m proud of how the project turned out and the role it plays in celebrating Anna May Wong’s contributions.
